theBalm Read My Lips lipgloss Review

image
“These lip glosses feature a wide range of shades that make a statement without saying a word. "Smart-mouthed” takes on a new meaning with this unique formula fortified with Ginseng, a powerful antioxidant known for its mentally stimulating properties."

I just want to start this review with I love these! theBalm has hit it out of the park with these glosses. I’m not usually a gloss girl but these are fantastic. I received 3 shades: WOW!, SNAP!, and BAM!.

  • BAM! is a very pretty warm medium pink.
  • SNAP! is a medium nude with a warm brown undertone.
  • WOW! is a true cherry red.
I found that they all have a medium opacity. They can be sheered out or built to a pretty full color. When they are built only with WOW do I get patchy-ness. WOW also bled the most. I think it’s because when I tried to build it it smeared more than the other shades.
As for longevity, alone they lasted 3 hours & WOW lasted longer because it left a light cherry look on the lips. While Bam and Snap left a very light wash, you could barely see it. Over lipstick / lipliner these lasted a long time, even through eating. I was very impressed. What really sold me on these lip glosses was the formula. I hate sticky lip glosses with a passion. These lip glosses gave a nice "cushion” feel, kind of lip Dior lip glosses. They weren’t super sticky, it felt more like a thicker balm on the lips.
These lip glosses are infused with Ginseng. I’m not sure if this is what made my lips feel good but mind blown. My lips actually felt better after wearing these. Alone my lips were softer over lipliner again soft, no flakey, dry lips. I love a good matte lip but still usually when I wear a lip liner all over, then a matte lipstick over I get some fairly dry lips. I wore my favorite lip combo at the moment NYX Natural all over with Revlon matte lipstick in Smoked Peach with SNAP over it and my lips felt amazing at the end of the day. After 6 hours my lips were comfortable, still had a little slip because of the gloss, lost a bit of color, but overall no dryness. I even reach for these as balms when I can’t find my chapstick.
  • Would you re-buy this product? Yes.
  • How many stars? 4 out of 5 SNAP & BAM / 3 out of 5 for WOW
  • Who would you recommend this product for? Gloss lovers and people who are prone to dry lips.
  • Overall thoughts? I was super amazed by these lip glosses. I really want to get POP! and GRR! for the spring/summer. I think the nude/pink shades work better because of the formula. But I have to say the WOW shade lasted and worked great over a matte red lip. I think this could solve the “I love red lipstick but I hate the drying effect of matte lips”.
  • Price? $15
  • Last Comments? Love. They definitely are a gloss that is not sticky. They felt nice on the lips and did not leave a stain. (Pretty Smart is the name of the glosses for EU) There are 11 shades, in a flat shade and some with shimmer.
Have you tried theBalm Read My Lips glosses? Thoughts?
