Glossier Soothing Mist Spray Review

image

“Ever thought you’d spray water onto your face right after you washed it? No? Well, this isn’t just water, per se. It’s made with roses and aloe to hydrate, soothe, and leave you feeling fresh and awake, prepping your skin for the Priming Moisturizer. Also excellent as a makeup refresher and midday pick-me-up." Glossier

When I first received the Glossier Phase 1 Set I thought “oh no rose water”! I do not have sensitive or acne prone skin but every rose water I’ve tried has broke me out. I had one good experience with rose water, I had a rose moisturizing mask at Esthetic school that did not break me out. At school we learned all about essential oils (Aromatherapy) because it was one of my teachers main passion. We also learned how rose water was made. So I decided I would try it because my skin is fairly normal in the winter.
Immediately I felt refreshed. As you all know rose scented things are my obsession! It has a lovely true bouquet of roses scent, nothing artificial here. After a few hours I had not experience any pimples forming so I decided to research the different rose water ingredients. Glossier uses roses from Bulgaria / Turkey (according to the ingredients on the bottle). In my research I found different brands use different roses from different locations, different strands. Essential oil of the rose from Turkey / Bulgaria is one of the most expensive essential oils. I found that the other types I had been using used essential rose oil used mainly for scent and Dog-rose which is from Africa / Asia / Europe. The first thing I noticed was the different in appearance. Glossier uses a rose that actually looks like a rose while if you look up Dog-rose it doesn’t look like the classic rose one might receive from a loved one. The Soothing Face Mist contains other important ingredients as well such as Aloe, Glycerin, and Honeysuckle.
I’ve been using this non-stop since I received it and I’m in love. It’s refreshing, smells amazing, and I’ve had no reaction to it. Overall I’m super impressed with it. The mist is very fine and I’ve even been using it mid-day! (I’m not a spray type of girl). I think it’s a great product. In the winter my skin tends to be more dehydrated than any other time of the year. Since using Glossier’s products my skin is plump, hydrated, and well moisturized. I think once it’s hot out I’ll only use this at night though. I need my skin to be as matte as possible with the heat and humidity of Atlanta. But I think it’s a nice product to rotate with my beloved witch hazel.
Ps: As an esthetician I’m loving Glossier’s idea of skin first.
