theBalm recently sent me some products. For some reason I had no idea they had a liquid liner! When I opened the package the first thing I did was apply this in a wing to see how thin the application was. Right off the bat I was I was super impressed, it was a nice thin and precise application. I have hooded eyes and one eye isn’t as hooded (hence me trying the wing). The next day I decided to try this out while doing my makeup. My favorite liquid liner is Kat Von D Tattoo Liner which has a shiny finish. theBalm Schwing has a matte finish. I’ve been on the hunt for a good matte liquid liner. Unfortunately this is not what I’ve been looking for.
I really really dislike this liner. Everything it claims… the opposite happened. It flaked in a really weird way because it took so long to dry. I know that sounds weird but I’ll explain.
I applied this and thought “this is really liquid-y and isn’t trying that fast”. Then I went to dip the tip back in the pot to do my other eye. When I looked in the mirror…. black eyeliner splatted everywhere. When I blinked I guess the liner was on my lashes and sprayed it on my crease and cheek. So I thought oops my bad I’ll be careful with the other eye. The other eye I had no problem; I mean it was still liquid-y and not drying fast but no splatter. I applied my mascara and washed my hand because I was done. About 10 mins later when I looked in the mirror again another downfall. Some how the liner was in my inner corner and smudged all on my lower lash line (of my inner corner).
The worst part? It happened every single time I’ve tried this liner. It also wasn’t long lasting. All it took was a lick of my finger to swipe off the liner, no soap needed.

- Would you re-buy this product? No.
- How many stars? 1 out of 5 (because it’s matte)
- Who would you recommend this product for? Maybe someone with a dryer skin wouldn’t have a problem with how liquid-y it is. I know my sister has dry skin so things that smudge because of how creamy they are on me don’t on her. Her skin just sucks up the moisture.
- Overall thoughts? I was very disappointed with this liner. I think I’m gonna try it again but I don’t have high hopes.
- Price? $17
- Last Comments? Despite the fact that I disliked this liner I’ve heard nothing but good reviews about this product. I had many people tell me I would love this liner because it’s their holy grail. I wish it had worked for me. Maybe I got a bad batch?
Have you tried theBalm Schwing Liquid Liner? Thoughts?
These products were sent to me for review. My opinions/thoughts are completely honest! ♡
