“An intensely saturated, rich and luxuriant lipstick carefully crafted to reveal bold, daring color and impart enduring moisture.” Rituel De Fille
Packaging:
(front and back)
(direct sunlight)
- Written in Blood: A vibrant, universally flattering blood red made with 100% carmine pigment from the cochineal insect. Carmine has been worn by women for centuries and imparts a stunning red unmatched by other dyes. (Semi-matte)
- Hex: A statement color in cool lilac. (Semi-matte)
The lipstick finish is described as a semi-matte which I would describe as a creamy matte. It is matte but when you rub your lips together it’s very soft andnot drying at all! It almost feels like a lip balm. The formula is different from anything I’ve tried. Usually with matte (or even satin) lipsticks they can be dry when you apply them or have a waxy feel (drugstore ones). But with these they genuinely have a slight balm feel with insane pigmentation.
Out of the two shades Written in Blood is the most difficult to work with. The packaging isn’t the best for deep colors. The product doesn’t give a crisp line and the actual product can move a bit in the tube causing an uneven application. With Hex I don’t get this at all but since Written in Blood is so dark it’s very obvious. I had to use a lip brush to get my photo swatch. If you don’t mind using a lip brush (especially if you’re a MUA) it’s still a good formula.
I find these last well. I even took a nap in Hex and it was still on when I woke up. I mean I didn’t rub my lips on my pillow but for sleeping and it not fading that’s great in my book! Overall these are fantastic. I was very impressed with the formula. It makes me wish all my matte lipsticks were in this formula.
